Terms of Use
1. What Loka is
Loka is an app that runs AI language models directly on your device, with optional cloud features (web search, image generation and editing, deep research). By downloading or using Loka you agree to these terms and to Apple's standard App Store terms.
2. Licence & purchases
- Loka is free to download and includes a 7-day trial of the paid features, starting at first launch. This trial is granted by the app itself, is not a store subscription, and requires no payment method. When it ends the app keeps working, with a daily limit on chats and the paid features locked.
- The one-time unlock is a perpetual licence for the app's current and future features on devices signed into your Apple Account. It is not a subscription and will not convert into one.
- The weekly plan is an auto-renewing subscription billed to your Apple Account. It renews at the end of each weekly period unless cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand, and you can cancel or manage it any time in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; the current period runs to its end.
- Cloud credits are bought only on the web Portal at theloka.app/portal, and are processed by Stripe. They cannot be bought inside the app. Credits are consumed by cloud jobs, never expire, and are non-transferable. To request a refund, email support@theloka.app.
- Credits belong to a Loka Key, not to a device or an Apple Account. The Key is shown once when the account is created and cannot be reset or recovered by us: if it is lost, the credits attached to it are unrecoverable.
- Downloaded AI models are licensed under their respective open-source licences (e.g. Apache 2.0), which are shown in the app's model details.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Loka to:
- Generate content that is illegal in your jurisdiction
- Create material that exploits or harms minors
- Produce deceptive impersonations of real people without consent
- Abuse cloud services (automated scraping, resale of credits, attempts to bypass metering)
4. AI output: no warranty
AI models make mistakes. Output may be inaccurate, incomplete or biased, and is provided "as is" for informational purposes. Loka is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, or financial advice. You are responsible for how you use what it produces.
5. Your content & data
Everything you create in Loka belongs to you. Because your data lives on your device, you're responsible for backups: see the export options in Settings. Our data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law (including the Australian Consumer Law, whose guarantees are not excluded), our total liability for any claim relating to Loka is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim arose.
7. Changes & termination
We may update these terms; material changes will be noted in the app before they take effect. Because Loka runs on your device, we cannot and will not remotely disable features you've paid for. You can stop using Loka at any time by deleting the app.
8. Governing law & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Questions: legal@theloka.app.
